The Gem of Columbus, Ohio:

Franklin Park Conservatory

It’s been a long, cold, dark winter in Ohio … and most other places.  Nothing can make you feel more trapped than a snowy, brutally cold environment. Fortunately for those of us living in Columbus, we have a perfect escape from the drab gray sky and dirty piles of snow. The gem of Columbus – Franklin Park Conservatory!

I visited with a friend one afternoon not long ago, then again more recently at evening’s dusk and dark with my wife. Daylight … what there is of it … and fortunately it’s been so very cold the sun has been out on occasion … helps the indoor gardens show off the current orchid exhibit beautifully. And nighttime brings out the grandeur of Bruce Munro: Light … a special display of brilliant color and lights. Both can be enjoyed together or separately. I suggest you take in the orchids one afternoon, have a bite to eat at the café, then reprise your garden trek once the sun sets. But you better hurry. The Munro exhibit closes March 30th and the orchids are displayed until April 13th.
